Clarissas

O Mosteiro de Nossa Senhora das Mercês, fundado a 2 de Janeiro de 1977 na freguesia de Calhetas de Rabo de Peixe, ilha de São Miguel, é habitado por oito irmãs Clarissas que vivem em clausura e contemplação. Seguem a regra de Santa Clara e, como ela, arriscaram seguir o conselho de Jesus: «Procurai em primeiro lugar o Reino dos céus, E o resto vos será dado por acréscimo»

The Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, founded in January 2, 1977, in the parish of Calhetas of Rabo de Peixe, São Miguel island, is inhabited by eight Clares sisters living in closure and contemplation. They go along by the rule of Saint Clare and like her, took the chance in following Jesus’ advice: «But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.»
